What Is Metamizol ?
Metamizol tablets (also knows as Metamizole sodium) are used for the treatment of pains of different origin and variable intensity: toothache, headache, arthralgia, neuralgia, myositis, mild to moderate visceral pain, high fever, not responding to other drugs. Metamizol injection is used in cases of acute and severe pain after operations and traumas, pain associated with neoplastic diseases, colicky pain etc.

What is the dosage and how should it be used?
Metamizol sodico comes as a tablet and ampoules.

The ampoules can be administered intramuscularly. The single dose in all age groups is 8 to 16 mg/kg body weight. The dose should be given according to the following scheme: 16 to 31 kg body weight - 250 mg Metamizol (1/2 ml); 32 to 46 kg body weight - 500 mg Metamizol sodium (1 ml); 47 - 62 kg body weight - 500-750 mg Metamizol (1 - 1.5 ml); and over 63 kg body weight - 750-1000 mg Metamizol (1.5 - 2 ml). In cases of persistent pain, the dose can be repeated after 6 to 8 hours. Maximum daily dose - 4.0 g Metamizol. Metamizol should not be used parenterally for a period longer than 3 days.
For the tablets, the dosage and duration of the treatment must be determined according to the severity of the pain syndrome. The common dose in the adults is 250 to 500 mg (1 to 2 tablets) 2 or 3 times daily. The maximum dose is 3 g/24h. In over 15 year-old children the Metamizol dose is 250 mg.

Contraindications
Metamizol containing preparations may not be taken:

with Porphyrie (innate or acquired disturbance of the production of the red blood coloring material),
with well-known incompatibility of Metamizol,
with paled to conditioned lack of the enzyme Glucose-6-Phosphat-Dehydrogenase,
with babies under three months,
during pregnancy and quiet time.

When being present a marrow damage application is possible only with special precautionary measures.

What should I do if I forget a dose?
If you miss a dose of Metamizol, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
Never take a double dose of this medicine.
